Job Summary:

As the Fund Development Manager (FDM), you will plan, lead, and oversee all aspects of the NBCC Foundation's development and fundraising strategies and Annual Fund. The FDM is responsible for individual donor development and stewardship, corporate and foundation giving, and planned giving.
The FDM organizes large-scale fundraising initiatives and staff and board fundraising events; works with board members; manages the annual fund; builds relationships with donors together with executive leadership; identifies and cultivates relationships with prospective major gift donors; grows small donors; oversees in-kind donations; manages the donor database; and works with the communications, programs, and event staff to coordinate event planning.
The FDM will expand and grow the Foundation's potential donor pool, including alumni of Foundation programming, in addition to holding a critical role in planning events and coordinating other activities to encourage donations and help ensure that the NBCC Foundation continues to be able to expand mental health accessibility to underserved populations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Comprehensive Fundraising Plan Development & Implementation
• Develops and implements a comprehensive fundraising plan that includes setting annual and long-range goals for fundraising and evaluating progress made toward implementing the plan and delivering outcomes.
• Identifies and cultivates major gift prospects, as well as corporate and foundation donors, and plans and executes special events that engage donors and raise funds for the organization.
Donor Relations & Development
• Develops and coordinates donor engagement opportunities that enable the Foundation to identify and connect with constituents across the lifespan, including wealth screening, micro-philanthropy, and planned giving.
• Cultivates and maintains a positive culture of philanthropy amongst staff, boards, and volunteers for all affiliates.
• Identifies and coordinates recruitment of new donors and prospects, including alumni of the Foundation's fellowship and scholarship programs.
• Develops and implements strategies for retention of donors based on alumni engagement opportunities.
• Analyzes the performance of events and activities for effectiveness, including outcomes and efficient and strategic use of resources.
• Collaborates with other organizations and groups within the community to build partnerships and enhance fundraising activities.
• Develops and maintains ongoing systems to identify, engage, and draw financial support (annual gifts, major gifts, and grants) from individuals and entities (foundations, organizations, etc.) with an affinity for the Foundation's mission.
Communications
• Works closely with the Communications team to develop and execute effective donor communications and marketing materials.
• Develops a compelling message that resonates with potential donors, creates donor recognition programs, and crafts targeted appeals that drive donations.
• Develops and coordinates donation and contribution solicitations with assistance of the Communications Department.
• Develops and coordinates cultivation and retention of existing donors through targeted outreach, communications, and event strategies.
• Leverages technology and social media where possible to improve fundraising activities.
Constituent Engagement Events
• Leads planning and coordination of events related to fundraising and donor engagement.
• Assists in coordinating activities of volunteers related to fundraising and donor engagement.
• Leads efforts to identify and recruit corporate and individual sponsors for Foundation-connected events and initiatives.
• Attends annual Symposium and assists with overall event execution, including donor stewardship with attendees.
Administrative Responsibilities
• Prepares reports to help leadership understand fundraising outcomes and opportunities and to track progress toward annual fund development goals.
• Prepares communications for donor management, partner engagement, and board reporting.
• Performs database management, including overseeing timely gift entry, receipt, and acknowledgement process.
• Participates in organization-wide planning activities as assigned.
• Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the contributions and integration of Fund Development efforts with the broader Division strategic plan and annual objectives and goals.
Collaboration With Leadership
• Collaborates closely with the Vice President of the Foundation, CEO, and Board of Trustees to develop fundraising strategies and goals that align with the organization's mission and values.
• Presents fundraising plans and performance metrics to the Board of Trustees and works with the CEO to ensure that fundraising activities are aligned with the organization's overall strategic plan.
Data Tracking and Analysis
• Monitors and analyzes fundraising data to evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.
• Tracks donor engagement and retention rates, analyzes revenue streams, and makes data-driven decisions that help the organization achieve its fundraising goals.
Required Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree or higher in social services, business, communications, or a related field.
• 5 or more years of nonprofit fundraising experience required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal, sales, and customer service skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of board members, staff, award recipients, and
other key stakeholders.
• Ability to develop project work plans, handle multiple concurrent assignments, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work remotely if necessary.
Preferred Education/Experience:
• Have a passion for the expansion of Mental Health Counseling resources for underserved communities.
• Possess knowledge of nonprofit fundraising techniques and strategies and an enthusiasm for raising funds to further the NBCC Foundation's mission in a values-aligned manner.
• Experience working in nonprofit fund development preferred (volunteer or paid).
• Experience working with alumni networks preferred.
• Excel in working with a high degree of autonomy. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who takes initiative to plan and execute required duties and tasks.
Work Location:
Minimum of 2 days in the office are required.
